About

Floriano Bortone, Travel photographer

Hi, I’m Floriano — a travel photographer based in Trani, in the beautiful region of Puglia, Italy. It’s my home base, the place I always return to after each journey.

My love for travel runs deep. Ever since I was a child, I’ve felt a powerful urge to explore—to discover new places, cultures, and traditions. In 2014, I found a way to combine that passion with photography, and I’ve never looked back. Since then, my camera has been my constant companion on the road.

What started as a simple hobby quickly became something much more. I fell in love with that brief, electric moment between pressing the shutter and seeing the image appear on the screen of my Sony Alpha 7R II. There’s always a rush—uncertainty, excitement, maybe even a little panic—as I wonder whether I’ve caught the perfect instant: a fleeting expression, a dramatic sky, or the light trail of a passing bus.

To me, those images are like small treasures, each one carrying a memory, a mood, a story.

But photography is also about discipline. I’m always looking to refine my technique—experimenting with composition, light, and color both in the field and in post-production. In recent years, post-production has become an essential part of my creative process. It challenges me constantly and pushes my skills further with every edit.

Above all, I see photography as a universal language. It’s how I tell stories, capture emotion, and share the world as I see it—one frame at a time.
